Comment: KC College is without a doubt one of the top colleges in Mumbai. People from various backgrounds come and study here. The crowd is one of the best that you will find in Mumbai College. The likes of Anil Ambani have done their graduation from this college. Thus you can imagine the kind of crowd that comes to this college. The faculty members are good and also helpful. The college understands the importance of library and therefore offers the membership of air-conditioned library at a very nominal price. The library is also opened on public holidays. The only drawback that one can point out is the campus size. For the sea lovers, Marine drive which was our favorite hangout spot is at a distance of 500 meters from the college. The college offers various courses in Arts, Commerce, and Science. Medical and engineering are the only streams that you won’t find in this college other than that college have almost all the courses. There are many privileges for girls in this college as college promotes girl power.
Academic wise KC is the best college. From my experience I can say that college was not only strict but has also sent the benchmarks on how academic and co-curricular activities can go hand in hand. There are events going on at every point in time and still the college produces some of the best results. Being a student of BMS, we never thought that we will have a privilege to enjoy or participate in other events. However, the college has other plans for us. There is enough to learn at the KC campus and I was glad that I had that tag of KCite which I carried proudly whenever I represented my college in academic or other events.
The best faculty has been hired to teach the students. The faculty is so friendly and helpful that they never shy away from helping students. BMS requires a lot of attention and if due to some reasons, one fail to attend classes then the faculty members arrange extra classes for them. The faculty members made sure that they will support us in whatever way they can. The professors were so calm and even with so many things going on they made sure that they are running ahead of the schedule and arrange mock tests for us that really helped us during the University exams.
For BMS the placements were decent not great I would say. There were some major business houses that hired many of us. As most of them like me chose to do higher studies, I didn’t even appeared for the placements. Companies like J.P. Morgan, Chase, ICICI Lombard, and Axis Bank among others recruited many BMS students. The average placement was in the range of 25-30k per month. I don’t know anyone boasting a package higher than this. MMS is compulsory I would say to make sure you get good placements.
The college doesn't have a hostel facility but there is a government boys hostel in C Street and also there are innumerable boys and girls hostel in Marine lines. One can choose among those. Renting a flat in Colaba is not everyone’s cup of tea and that is why students who came from other states used to stay at distant places like Andheri, and beyond to get apartments at a decent prize. With the amount of students coming from other states, I think the colleges in Mumbai should start addressing this matter.
The college campus size is small but has 2 buildings that have all the facilities one seeks. In one building there’s a huge air-conditioned auditorium that can accommodate some 600-700 students. The college campus also has an air-conditioned library that has books of all disciplines along with daily newspapers and some journals. One building can be said as reserved for co-curricular activities as there’s a stage, green rooms, and a canteen. The classrooms that are main are spacious and are best suited for the students. Among facilities that are available in campus includes computer labs, air-conditioned staff rooms, and a stage that hosts events and seminars. Seminars were a regular feature of this college as knowledgeably persons from various streams used to come and give lectures on respective subjects. Thus campus has all the modern facilities. Also, the college students can play at Oval Maidan as the college has access to the ground for most time of the year. There are also health labs outside the campus that are common for all the nearby colleges such as Jai Hind, H.R. and Sydenham among others.
The college has various clubs running like dance club, nature club and therefore there’s so much to learn at KC. I used my time wisely at the college as I joined few clubs and also gave emphasis on studies at the same time. My first project was done under the guidance of Priya Mam as a part of blood donation camp. After that been with college activities for many more programs and also participated in KIRAN (Fest) for all 3 years.
