Comment: Confusion is what landed me at AIMT. I was done with engineering and since many of my classmates opted for management studies, I also took up management studies at AIMT. I did MBA from the 2017-19 batch and therefore can give the current scenario insight. Facility wise AIMT is superb but other than that the institute has nothing. Every infrastructure facility like the language lab or the Computer lab was more or less for the show as we hardly used them. All our projects, assignments, and case studies were done on our own laptops which we had to buy compulsorily from the institute at a price higher than the market price. As if the fees were not enough they charged us for every damn thing on this planet. Studies part is disgusting and there are no sports facilities as well or much of events or industrial exposure. Why are they even running the institute was beyond me and this is for the one who can boast that they have an MBA degree from a nice-looking B-School.
Challenges are unlimited with academics at AIMT. Case studies were handed over and asked to do our research on that. No guidance or support was provided and that is how it went on. Some new rules were laid down and in that the internships were denied to us and some guest lectures that were conducted were the only source from where we could draw out some info. CEOs of top MNCs used to come to see the progress that the students have made. We were threatened to ask questions to the guest faculty and all that they said in those long lectures we had to decode the conclusion ourselves.
Barring a couple most were busy with their own stuff or speaking about their laurels as all of them have come from a very privileged background like IIMs, Jamnalal Bajaj, and XLRI. Coming and finishing the course was their only motto and in the process, they even forgot to take practicals or train us to be industrial ready. The entire fault was not the faculty alone as the management used to come and see that classes are being held properly or not. In MBA, I wish it was all about classes as I couldn’t design PPTs or make excel files using the formula by the end of the 3rd semester. Students had to help each other out and luckily some of them were intelligent enough to help us out. The professor’s job was done by the students who had work experience and that is how things worked at AIMT.
Good credits will at least give you a job but if you look at ROI, it was pitiful. Banks and some home finance companies were happy with our interviews and thankfully we got placed. Not all but 60-70% of us. Thus don’t look at the college site where they say that all students got a package worth 10Lakhs and above. I wish I could tell the kind of placement I got but at least I got one and had to be satisfied with that.
Both boys and girls hostels are located inside the campus. There are various kinds of rooms to choose from. There are single sharing, double sharing, and triple sharing room options. The hostel was nice and since the building was newly constructed the rooms were pretty good and also the other facilities at the hostel. 24*7 electricity, RO water, and other than the attached washrooms there were washrooms on each floor as well. Our hostel building also had a huge hall which was a common room and was used by students for reading newspapers, watching TV, or sharing future plans with fellow students. For fun, there was also a recreational room that had 2 pool tables, 2 table tennis tables, and 2 large-sized carom boards. After coming back to the hostel we use to rush to the recreational room and spend our evenings there. The food provided at the hostel was good and was one of the rare comforting prospects about the college.
The buildings are well maintained and everything at the campus was new from buildings to the labs. All the buildings were centrally air-conditioned and the classrooms were one of the best. The AV hall was compact but the seats were no less than the best seating area of multiplexes. No sports ground though apart from indoor sports activities. The air-conditioned library was mostly occupied by students of various branches as it was as peaceful as anything. The college has a cafeteria and a canteen and the food served was also fine. The infrastructure was again a comforting prospect as it envied many of my friends in my hometown because they have never seen a college like this in their life. The security at the institute was high and there was no entry without the I-Card. Thus, infrastructure wise the institute is accomplished.
Some of the events that were celebrated in the college include Saraswati Pooja, Sports Day, and some small events as that was it because there was no annual fest. The engineering students were a part of some clubs that existed in the institute and used to perform elsewhere as the college never hosted any such events. There is hardly any scope of learning other skills at the college and even the academics are below par.
