An Advice to all Faculties, Staff and Students
The Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), WB Prof. (Dr.) Saikat Maitra has appealed to all to live up to the ideal of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation. The path of non-violence and truth shown by him should be followed by us everyday, throughout our lives. Every year his birthday reminds us of his ideal of plain and simple way of living, his endeavour to help others and his struggle for India's Independence.
According to Prof. Maitra, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi's ideals of equality and religious tolerance have eternal value. He continues to inspire millions and millions of people across the world, even today. It is Gandhiji, who taught us the values of harmonious co-existence and mutual respect for every individual. He had an undaunted spirit to serve the mankind and took resort to austerity to help others.
Prof. Maitra pointed out that, Gandhiji believed 'cleanliness is next to godliness' and advised us to save the environment. On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, let us remember his wisdom and follow his ideals to face the challenges that confront our lives.
