Online Classes using Teaching-Learning Software at MAKAUT
Faculties attending a session on Online Communication at Salt Lake Campus on 18.03.20
Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), WB is taking resort to different modes of Online Communication, to ensure continuity in the teaching-learning process of the University in the midst of Corona affected environment. The University is also communicating digitally for internal matters and with the affiliated Colleges and Institutions.
Internal Meetings of the University are now being conducted with the help of ZOOM Digital Platform. Cisco Webex is used for online teaching. MAKAUT has also purchased a platform named My Perfectis which has in-built Question Bank for MCQs. The provision for online evaluation is also there.
The Classroom Equivalent online courses are also identified by various departments for credit transfer of the students.
As regards online teaching, a faculty will have to create an account and install the Cisco Webex App. The teacher will join as a host and send a URL id to the students via whatsapp or SMS, so that the student can join. Dr. Somdatta Chakravortty, HOD of IT Department pointed out, that IT and CSE Departments are already using Learning Management System (LMS). The other Departments will also be using it, because physically students are not allowed to attend classes to prevent the spread of Corona virus.
Already the students are informed about the new schedule of Online Classes, so that they can l0g-in through their desktops/laptops/mobiles.
