A Course on VR/MR Technologies for Faculties : Campus Karma

Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), is going to arrange a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) pertaining to Virtual Reality (VR)/ Augmented Reality (AR) in the month of December, 2019., in the Salt Lake campus BF-142, Sector-I, Salt Lake, Kolkata- 700064. The Date of Commencement is 19.12.2019.

Day by day it is being widely accepted that VR/AR technologies are becoming more and more important as media of instruction in the teaching-learning process. It is needless to mention that through this mode of instruction the learner can penetrate in the subject matter lucidly and vividly. It is in this perspective that MAKAUT is arranging this FDP.

It will be a 10 days' programme, spreading over 5 weeks. It will be conducted only on Saturdays and Sundays to ensure participation of the professors, despite their busy schedule.

The course fee for each participant is Rs. 4000. The said amount may be remitted through bank/demand draft in favour of MAKAUT, WB payable at Kolkata. The photocopy of the draft along with the enrollment form may be sent to the E-mail ID: makautvr.ar.training@gmail.com. The ORIGINAL DEMAND DRAFT may be handed over to the Registration Desk at the time of registration on the date of commencement of the programme.

About the Course

Day 1:

Registration

Inauguration: Will invite some guest from the Industry. Hon’ble VC Prof. (Dr.) Saikat Maitra will inaugurate the Training Session by lighting the lamp.

The industry stalwarts will explain the necessity of this emerging technology viz. VR-AR-MR-XR, VR Academia, Unity, HP, Accenture, Ericsson & Didactics etc. will participate.

Day 2:

Introduction to VR/AR/MR/XR, its contribution in the education sector, and its benefit by incorporating it into other fields of studies.

Faculty details: Industry expert Prof. Samir Mukherjee will elaborate the necessity of this technology in different fields and how to amalgamate it with engineering course, what is its utility and how to achieve it.

Day 3:

Foundation course in Multimedia/Animation/2D/3D is the starting approach for VR/AR/MR/XR Technology

Faculty details: Ms. Brati Chatterjee, veteran multimedia industry practitioner and instructor working in Accenture, having almost 12 years of experience in media and animation industry will explain the application.

Day 4:

Basic Software Programing, algorithm knowledge and application required for 360/VR/AR/MR/XR

Faculty details: Professor Arnab Chakraborty, having almost 24-year experience in coding, programing languages and software development will discuss the programming (C & R) part of 360/VR/AR/MR/XR technology.

Day 5:

VR storytelling, how is VR story telling different from 2D/3D Film storytelling. Training in making VR/AR story writing, story boarding and screenplay

Faculty details:

1st Half: Ms. Sayantani Pututunda is a veteran writer who has written many novel, fiction, non-fiction and thrillers. She was into VR story writing and few of her projects are already on the floor.
2nd Half: Dhriti Chatterjee is a VR film maker for the last couple of years, having a team consisting of international film professionals.

Day 6:

VR in education: It is the next internet like technology advancement and will cause a paradigm shift in the education Industry

Faculty details: It will be a panel discussion with Industry and Educational & Engineering professionals.

Day 7:

VR film making & editing, Viewing different creative contents, learning methodology of VR Content creation, VR film stitching and ingesting, A hands on course in how to successfully make a VR film

Faculty details:

1st Half: Dhriti Chatterjee is a VR film maker for the last couple of years, having a team consisting of international film professionals.
2nd Half: Expert Prof. Samir Mukherjee will elaborate the process of making VR Film & editing- a step by step approach towards a better understanding of the VR film making.

Day 8:

360 Audio recording & editing, 360 Lighting arrangements for VR Film making, film distribution methodology – Training in the non-content technical aspect of VR film making

Faculty details:

1st Half: Expert Prof. Samir Mukherjee will elaborate different techniques, 360 audio and lighting arrangements, camera selection, making VR studio.
2nd Half: Dhriti Chatterjee is a VR film maker for last couple of years, having a team consisting of international film professionals.

Day 9:

VR/XR IN PROJECTS & Start-ups, different utility, advertisement, Industry applications, Games & Entertainment segments, how VR can be used for more than just education

Faculty Details: Mr. Avik Banerjee, working as a Senior Solution Architect in Ericsson, is having more than 16 years of experience in media and design.

Practical & question answer Session
