Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT). West Bengal has opened one of its its Off-Campus Centre at Annex College in Salt Lake, Kolkata. The Campus was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) Saikat Maitra, the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of MAKAUT on the 9th of November, 2019.

The opening of such off-campuses is a part of the project launched by MAKAUT for establishing Centres of Learning attached to the University.

All the Courses will be approved by the University and will be in accordance with its syllabus and examination pattern. The examination system will follow the rules and regulations of the University.

The aim of MAKAUT in establishing off-campus centres like Annex College is to make quality education available to more students through established institutions, which fulfill the required norms of the University in terms of infrastructure, educational facilities, faculty and so on.

Centre Head and Chairman, Annex Group of Institutions Mr. Vikash Kumar Singh in this occasion said, “It is my great pleasure to announce this collaboration between MAKAUT and Annex College, Kolkata. With this collaboration in place, we strongly believe that the students of this college will be able to achieve new heights.”

At this point it needs to be mentioned that Annex College started Management Education in Kolkata in 1990 and has been awarding BBA, BCA degrees and Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration, as well as MBA degree. The College authorities hope that the new off-campus centre will make it easier for future aspirants to pursue their dream courses within their home state of West Bengal itself. The courses are designed to improve the employability of the students and help them in course of their future career building.

The Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor of MAKAUT, Prof. (Dr.) Saikat Maitra in this occasion said, "It is a  unique day for MAKAUT and the Annex College. In India's New Education Policy it has been proposed that in the near future the system of affiliation will not be there and any institution has to be self sufficient. It is better to be prepared for such changes, so that the shock can be minimised. The starting of off-campuses is a move towards that direction. The idea is that we want to expand pour service providing capacity, in terms of empowering our younger generation, in terms of employability and efficiency."

Prof. Maitra clarified that MAKAUT has the responsibility to make a strategic tie up with professional organizations to offer quality education. It wants to introduce various in-house courses in the off-campus institutes. The aim of the University is to make the best use of education for society. That is why MAKAUT is introducing many new courses in collaboration with industry partners, which will have more relevance in tyhe near future. eg., AR/VR Technology, 3D Printing, Drone Technology, Robotics etc. In the off-campuses there will be one officer-in-charge and evaluation will be done by MAKAUT.
