If you give me rice, I'll eat today; if you teach me how to grow rice, I'll eat every day.
True teachers help their students recognize their own abilities. They prepare pupils to succeed on their own. They are always with the students, more as friends and less as mere preachers.
Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), WB felicitated a number of teachers on the occasion of Teachers' Day, 2019 at its Haringhata Campus. All together 12 teachers were felicitated, of which 2 are in-house professors, 5 are from affiliated colleges and 5 from local schools. MAKAUT is proud to honour their dedication towards the students and their contribution to academics.
Teachers have a great influence on their students. Their attitude, approach, reproach, and how they even address their students can go along the way into determining if they get better results and become successful in their future career building. Being positive and using positive words on the students while conveying lessons goes a long way into building the future of individuals, who being very young, have a positive attitude too. It is therefore paramount for teachers to ensure that they work to model a great student with what they say and do. It is for this reason that teaching is not like other ordinary professions and is referred to as a noble profession. They are the role models for the students and encourage them to strive for greatness, live to their fullest potential and influence them to realize their best potentials.
Much of what students learn from their greatest teachers is not detailed in the syllabus. Teachers who help them grow as people are responsible for imparting some of life’s most important lessons. During their initial school years, students encounter, perhaps for the first time, other children of the same age and begin to form some of their first friendships. A teacher shows the students how to become independent and form their own relationships, He/she carefully guides them and intervene when necessary. School is as much a place of social learning as academic learning, and those early lessons have an effect on how they will interact with others in the future. That is why MAKAUT has also felicitated school teachers.
However, teachers are friends, philosophers and guides for the students, not only in their early years of education, but all the way through college and university. There is no limit to the influence a teacher can have on students' lives.
MAKAUT is honoured by paying homage to the teachers who are playing such an integral part in shaping the lives of the students, and thus helping in nation building.
