The Patent Information Centre (PIC) of the Department of Science & Technology, Government of West Bengal presently known as Department of Science & Technology and Biotechnology is initiating 3 programmes:

The DSTBT is supporting the Intellectual Property Facilitation programme in the State of West Bengal through West Bengal State Council of Science & Technology at Patent Information Centre since 1997. West Bengal was the first state to have its Patent Information Centre (PIC) and is executing the IPR activities at West Bengal State Council of Science and Technology under this Department for the last twenty years.

It has been decided to introduce the above mentioned diploma and certificate courses in this field. have its Patent Information Centre (PIC), which is executing the IPR activities for more than twenty years and has gained considerable momentum in handling Intellectual Property Rights activities. The PIC in this state is ranked Category I by DST-GOI among 26 PICs in various fields of IPRs. Considering the expertise of this centre in the field of IPR and the expertise of MAKAUT in the field of technology, it has been decided to introduce the above mentioned diploma and certificate courses in this field.
